A/C went dead???

Hi everyone....my prelude recently died due to a dead battery. The car wasn't running for about 2 weeks. I finally put in a new battery yesterday and it started up easily. The weird thing is now my A/C isn't working. It was working before it died. Now its just blowing out hot air....do you guys know what might have went wrong? Could i have blown a fuse or something...i hope its nothing serious...cuz i just bought a battery for 65 bucks...and i really don't have much to spare....grrrrrr

give me any info you guys can.....

thanks - quang

It could be your a/c compressor or a fuse. First thing I would do is check all fuses

I've checked the inner fuse box and the one in the motor bay, but i don't see one that is labeled for A/C. if it is the a/c comp. , how much would that run me?

Slpmode has to change his compressor, so he could probably give you a price. You can also have a local a/c shop diagnose you car

Is the green AC light coming on? Every once in awhile mine doesn't. I've found the best way to fix the problem is to slam your fist down on the dash, right behind the air vents. Works every time... but passengers give me funny looks.

my A/C doesn't come on but once in a while my rpm gauge and speedodometer would lose light and i would fix that by banging on the dash...and it would light up again.......grrrrr....whats the problem with my A freakin C.......????

I concure - I wasted my time diagnosing the compressor. I got angry and just knocked on the dash by the ac switch.

My friend had that same problem in his car a couple of weeks ago. His A\C was blowing out hot air only. Turns out there was a frayed (frieghed?....whatever) wire near the compressor, just cut, spliced and taped it back up. A\C was good as knew after that. Check it out....who knows.
