A/C just wont come out!

ok.... so I'm trying to get my A/C cluster out to do a bit of soldering to hopefully fix my lights problem... Sound familiar?

well i've read every topic on this board about it... and i cant get the damned thing out!!

I have taken out all the screws that i can see... except for this 'golden' screw which is meant to be holding some cable in place which i can't even find

Please help me someone...... any pics would help, because in all the other write-ups, the pictures are gone!

Thank you in advance!

You have to take that golden screw out as well. It holds the air mixture cable to the unit. It's pretty hard to miss. Follow the cable under the unit and it'll be at the end.

i cant see the gold screw... is the cable that white one??
Underneath the heater control unit, there is a black housing below it, and I can only just see the white cable, but no screws holdin it in

Now, am I meant to re-solder every single little silver 'point' aka 'pin'??
Thankyou!

I just got through re-soldering my a/c control and I'm also soldering certified and have soldered for years. I noticed on my board that the solder joints underneath the green connector were cracked and had insufficient solder. I had to add solder to them. I would recommend that while you've got the darn thing out to go ahead and take a magnifying glass and some good light and look over each and every solder joint on the board. Your looking for cracks, tiny little holes called pin holes, and insufficient solder. I touched up a few other areas on mine as well. I've seen pics of some peoples solder fixes who didn't know how to solder. They were grossly over soldered, so if your unfirmiliar with soldering, be careful, a little goes a long way. Over soldering can cause problems too. Most of the joints you currently see on the board is how the joints are supposed to look. There should be a definite slope on the joints, and in order to keep from having peaks sticking out, run your solder iron up the pin instead of just lifting it straight off the side of the joint. Hope this helps. Good luck!
