C.E.L. code 43, please advise

car just threw a code 43... the light wasn't coming on before....

here is the story...

i was running almost dry in the gas tank cuz my stupid brother borrowed the car and didn't bother putting a few bucks gas in it.

i stopped by chevron and put in some gas (regular) and drove around for a minute or 2 and that is when the check engine light came on.

now 43 is something to do with the fuel system, no?
so, did i pump bad gas? do i need to clean fuel filter/injectors?

i'm somewhat new to this car maintenance stuff, help me out.

thank you.

by the way, the car is a 92 Si (h23) and i didn't feel any difference in the cars performance.

-Fuel Supply System defective or malfunctioning fuel supply system

Fill up with gas, reset your ecu. And you should be fine..

You said regular gas? Aren't the Si and VTEC supposed to use premium?

How did you reset your ecu? (not insulting your intelligence, just trying to double check..)

There are a few things that come to mind for this code...

1. your fuel pump is about to go.
2. clogged fuel filter (doubt this would throw a light)
3. injector(s) clogged or not working....

i reseted the ecu by taking out the black wire off the battey for a few minutes, and then put it back on and then started the car and let it sit started for like 5 mins, then took it for a drive and it threw the light again.

did i do it wrong?

how do i go about cleaning the injectors, i don't wanna take it to a shop.

i guess i'll first try by filling up premium after this tank runs out and if that doesn't work i'll try to clean the injectors and then if that doesn't work i guess i'll have to have the fuel pump looked at

You should always use Premium on a high compression motor found in the Si and VTEC models. It's stamped on the dash. Sheesh!

is it safe to assume that running lower octane can foul your injectors? That was my take on it, but i'm not sure.

I think it'd be safe to assume that yes, especially if he regularly used lower grade gasoline, which it sounds like he has done.

EDIT: Did this problem ever get solved? What's the scoop?

disconnect the red wire from the battery, the black is always grounded and so is everything else, if you look, it attaches to the block, so everything will still function properly....
