Button LED color change

I recently took apart my assembly for the cruise control, dimmer and exc. I found out how the LED's come out but how do you put new LED's in? I know your suppost to sodier the new LED and resister to something, but what is? Is it the copper ring where the original LED screws in? If so which side is the positive and which one is the negitive, or does it matter. Any pics on how to do this?I heard its easy. I just needed a few questions answered, thanks

if your talking about the 3 light bulbs that are in stock location, if you put blue leds there then it wont be bright enough on the bottons themselves.

You need to put one led in front of every button.. that long plastic piece ? use a dremel and modify a notch in it to hold the led and wire the wire/resister leads to the copper rings and then in series I think? ... I really dont know for sure .. I'd ask one of the people via PM or email how they did it and post back here with the results

--------^^^---------^^^----i Series
------------------------------i

Now bare with me I know its bad but here me out.... the ^^ are your resistors or led's... they represent anything that has a resistance to electrical flow. And the --- and i are the wires (sorry they dont connect but its the bect I could do. Pretend the i's at the end are conected and the ^ are conected too so that there is no breaks in the circuit to keep the electrical flow moving.

That is how you would wire something in series. Granted this is in diagram form but you can imagine how it would look with wires or anything that can conduct electricity and be used to connect the leds and resistors together!

I hope this helps you!!!!!

I am tired now

yeah, i did the cc and the dimmer,cruise,sunroof. The dimmer/cruise/etc buttons are terribly easily in comparison.

to answer your question, for the dimmer/cruise/sunroof buttons... yes you just solder the led AND THE APPROPRIATE RESISTOR (in series) to the copper ring that is already there. and yes it matters which side is positive and which is negative. electricity must flow a certain direction through the LED or it won't work. you can determine which side is pos/neg with a multimeter.

If you need help, feel free to pm me. I'm busy as hell, but i check in pretty regularly.

yeah, i dont remember what size resistors you needed, but by looking at the specs of the LED and using a simple multimeter, it can be easily figured out (V=IR)

^^So you would choose the resistor based on the current and voltage given?

ie:

V=IR
12v=.3a*R

Where R is the resistance of the LED and the resistor?
