Burning Oil smell from engine! Help.

Ok, to make a long story short when my car threw a rod, I had the engine rebuilt, then it had an oil leak(oil smoke from engine), the shop I took it to said that it was leaking out of the head and burning on the exhaust mainfold and making the smoke, so yesterday I got it back, and it is still smelling like burning oil and some smoke. I'm hoping the smoke that is burning off is left over oil still sitting on my engine, however I already high pressure washed the motor and it still does it, it is not as bad as it was before the head gasket was done, but it still ocassionally smokes from the rear part of the engine (towards where the fuel injectors are, somewhere done farther though) and smells just like burning oil, anyways, let me know what you guys think, BTW its a 94 Si with an h23a1....thanks!

If you had a pretty decent oil leak then it is probably just residual oil burning off the engine. I would bet that there is oil sitting on your flex pipe or part of the down pipe and that is the cause of the bad smell and smoking.

Even though you pressure washed the engine it wouldn't reach the bottom where the the down pipe is (unless you crawled under the car with the pressure washer.

It will probably be about two weeks before all the oil is burnt off.

I think your car is fine.
