Burning Oil like a Mother

So I've gone on two road trips to see my girlfriend recently. It's about a 350 mile trip, which I drive with maybe one stop, averaging 80-90mph. After each trip, when I've arrived at my destination, I've had NO OIL in the car basically. I just had the car in not too long ago, had the cam seals replaced, new head gasket, mechanic said he fixed a few oil leaks. There are no apparent leaks on the car, too (i.e. I don't see drip, and I"m not leaving oil stains). Further evidence of oil burning may be in the obscene amount of carbon buildup in the muffler tip and around the tip lip.

Any of you guys have an idea of what the problem is? I'd love to be able to fix this myself, but I'm fairly certain it's a problem with the internals (o rings, most likely). My shop is back home, though, and that's 6 hours from school. No good honda shops here, other than the dealer, and dealers douche me for money every time.

The car is a 94H22A, using Castrol GTX 10W-30 Oil.

Thoughts?

not wanting to scare anyone here - but i eventually traced my oil loss to a cracked engine block. Seemingly this is very rare for a honda although typical of my luck!

Are there any gunk in the coolant? I had no external leaks and lost a tonne of oil before eventaully changing the engine. What milage has your lude done - seemingly 1ltr per 1000miles is an exceptable loss!

Is your car smoking at all? Because if its smoking it culd be a number of things. Piston rings, valve seals, also how many miles does your motor have on it. try switching to a thicker oil, maybe 10-40.

The motor has 137k miles on it. I notice a large amount of white smoke comes out when revving not in gear.

your valve seals. oil expands as it get hots , so readings from the dipstick wont be the same if you check when the engine is cool.

how hard is it to get in and replace the valve seals? does this require taking the motor out of the bay, or can I remove the valve cover and get to them from there?

changing your valve seals is a pain in the ass and very expensive as some ppl have already pointed out. Ive been using Valvoline Max Life for about 3 weeks in my car and my burning has gone down considerably... i also have bad valve seals and in the morning the car will smoke a little... the bad valve seals are from ppl pushing my car before i had it. But you have nothing to lose... give Max life a try and see if it helps you

you could get a new motor for the same price as a valve seal job (assuming h23, f22b)

i find that i burn almost no oil, unless i drive like a crazy mofo which is hard to keep from doing in the winter with the cold air and massive amounts of power gains.

yeah, valve seals would be the problem most likely as a cracked block would....ehhhh, nasty.

Could be piston rings too. My 3rd gen was burning 1 qt oil per tank of gas. Ended up being the piston rings, and two mechanics (indep. and dealer) both said it'd be better to replace the engine than to mess with the piston rings. That's when I got a 4G.

What's the cost of the H23A? And is H23A > H22A? What's the difference there? (pardon my ignorance)

Also, where do you guys think is the best place to shop for a JDM motor to drop in there if I need to replace the entire thing...
