Burning oil

When i reverse the car it has a burt oil smell everytime. when driving forward no smell, when idling no smell. Checked around and didn't see any oil leaking, no oil on the ground either. What do you think?

it's a prelude, top it off. i go through about a quart every three thousand miles it's normal for the h series engines. you're probably burning it all the time, you just smell it in reverse. every time i stop to get gas i check it, that's enough to keep it between the holes. if you're boosted, then there might be something that i'm not familiar with, so might go well on the F.i. board. just my thinking.

I would guess it is coming out your tailpipe and that's why you only smell it in reverse. Does you bumper have black stuff on it?

No black on bumper. Haven't really seen any movement in the oil dip stick, but the smell gets pretty bad. I will find the source today.

I have black on my bumper, does that mean oil? I know preludes run rich and I thought some might be attributed to unburnt gas. Anything I can do to fix this?
