Broken into......

At about 11:30 last night my sister called me to tell me that my Prelude had been broken into. She had taken it to see a movie with her friends while I was out with my friends. She was crying like crazy and told me that the side window had been knocked out. So I immediatly hop in my mom's Expedition and hauled-ass over to the movies.

When I get there I see the Prelude sitting under a street light in the parking lot. I get out of the car and see galss everywhere. I look inside and see glass all in the passenger seat and carpet. My new Pioneer CD-RW player was gone . Needless to say I started kicking light poles and stuff while swearing like a sailor. A cop pulled up and noticed that my whole window was laying on the ground and asked if it had been broken into. She filed a report and wrote down what been stolen.

Now im in the process of buying a NEW alarm, new CD player, new window, and new tint for the side window. Right now Christine (my Prelude) is sitting the garage with glass shards all in her until Monday when I can get her to a body shop for a new window. damn... just the thought of someone actually SITTING in my Prelude trying to steal my CD player kills me. I just get so pissed thinking about how they were actually IN MY CAR. After the new alarm (and yes I read that Alarm post on our FAQ board), this will NEVER happen to me again .

later,
tim

She kept complaining that all of "her" friends live about 30 minutes away and that none of them could come pick her up to go to the movies. Then she started giving me the guilt trip about how she wasnt going to be able to go out Friday night unless she could barrow the Prelude. I dont know what I was thinking. Only bad stuff happens whenever she barrows it. Like curb checking the wheels, hitting other cars in parking lots, and hitting "boxes" on the highway.

That girl has no freaking common sense. If the Prelude had been with me, it would have never left my sight.

Hmm... I was gonna call mine "Chuntefio" but I guess a girl's name is better, isn't it?

Sorry to hear about that, dude. You can't blame your sister, though; this could have happened anywhere, you know?

Also, do you really think an alarm will have prevented the theft? Maybe it's just me, but whenever I hear a car alarm in a parking lot, I just assume someone bumped into the car. I don't think most people pay attention to alarms.

I KNOW a good alarm would have prevented this. why you may ask?

1. There could have been a chance that someone would have seen 2 guys busting out my window if the alarm would have gone off.

2. The alarm I almost bought came with a siren that mounts inside that emits a REALLY REALLY high frequency that makes your ears want to bleed.

3. The alarm I would have gotten also came with window breakage sensors and a remote that had a 2 mile radius. The remote would have starting beeping when it sensed that a window had been broken and I would have hauled ass like a raped ape to my Prelude and beat the sh!t out of some unlucky f*ckers.

later,
tim

Sorry to hear about the bad news buddy.. i feel ya... why didn't you sister have taking out the head unit while leaving the vehicle though...? Thieves obviously know what's the "good ****" and the "waste of time ****".... and sorry but even though a high price alarm wouldn't help you... Once the lude is all by it self with them bastards anything goes...

Compustar A/S. my friend installs alarms as a professional and knows how to install them correct (like the post about alarms in FAQ). im going to buy it ASAP now.

My dad gave me hell about how my Prelude "stands out in the crowd" because its "customized". He thinks that they saw the exhaust and immediatly knew I had stuff worth stealing. Sadly enough... its the truth . I loved that Pioneer......

sorry to hear that, tim....I've had my **** stolen before too in the past...but think of it on the bright side......they could've taken your whole car, driving it around joyriding it, then ****ing it up all together.

Have you seen all those racer kid movies? A lot of those kids don't give a **** about the audio....but they'll take that too of course. they'll joyride it, **** it all up, and still take the parts off of it if they're still in ok condition.

BTW,
That's a pretty good idea...hooking up an additional loud hell siren inside the cockpit too. Would suck if it went off when you were inside the car.

There is another one. I had about the same thing happen to me. At my moms apartments my car got the passenger side window busted out. I think my alarm went off and scared them away and all I had to do is fork out 200 for a new window. A car near me was not so lucky. I think it was hit first and it had stereo and other stuff stolen.

man i got my stuff stolen when i first bought the car in november of last year. i was so mad and it happened at the mall. i work there so you have to park in the employee section and i never did until they gave me a ticket and if i parked any where else again i would have gotten my car towed away.

well the first time i park my car there all my stuff gets stolen. they even went through my back pack and threw it in the next parking stall. it was a very sad day

I dunno, I think alarms help, about a month ago a friend and I were walking through a parking lot going up to another friends apartment and like 20 feet to the left of us we heard a pretty loud bang and then a car alarm go off. We looked over and saw 2 white guys reaching inside this newer Camry from the passenger window.

I kinda just whispered WTF to my friend and we both watched them reach inside and one guy start to open the door. We both kinda yelled "Hey!" at the guys and started going over there kinda quick. The guy outside the car looked over and just took off running, the other guy looked at us from inside the car and started getting out and we were like 5 feet from him and he got out and took off too.

The person with the Camry never showed up so we just shut the door and went to my friends house.

I'd hope someone would do the same for me.

Sorry to hear that Tim. Hopefully you'll get everything straightened out. I guess that's one good thing about me having a ****ty stereo, no one wants it.

2 weeks after i bought my lude, it got broken into. it was depressing yet wierd.

i was in class for only 1 hour. i was walkin to the parking lot and heard a car alarm from far. I thought it sounded like mine so i picked up my pace. from about 30 feet away, i got a good view of my car. the driver's side window was broken but didnt shatter cus of the tint. i saw like 20 bald headed gangsters about 20 feet from my car. I yelled "did u guys see anything?". needless to say they're response was "no". kinda obvious that they did it but what can i do? i was alone and they were 20 heads deep.

i looked in my car and noticed the cell phone was gone. then i noticed my stereo without the face. thats wierd, stereo is still there but the face is gone! one of those bald headed guys came up to me and was like "ay ese, i saw a red car go that way!" and another guy came up to me and said "yo homes, i saw a blue car go that way" and pointed a different direction.

i filed a police report, told em that the guys in front of the school did it. "blah blah blah i have no proof" etc etc. so, i had to get a new cell phone, driver side window, and stereo. my driver side window still has no tint.

at the time, the red alarm light wasnt working thats why they probably thought i didnt arm my car or i dont have an alarm. and i bet once they broke in and the alarm went off, they hesitated and grabbed my cell phone real quick. they probably tried to take the whole stereo but got scared off by my alarm so they took the face...

once i got home, i called my cell and someone picked up with a hispanic "gangster" accent:

"hello"
who the f*ck is this, thats my phone!!
"f*ck no ese, this is my phone homes"
f*ck u *****, p*ssy motherf*cker! u and ur homies are dumbasses for jacking my cell which is insured and the face of my stereo!
"f*ck u puto, u wanna get blasted homes? i know where u live"
come to my pad right now then p*ssy, if ur down!

blah blah blah etc etc etc i just kept cussing him out and he hung up on me.. i tried calling back and he wouldnt pick up. 1 min later, i disconnected the phone.

so, lets see what they got..
1 insured cell phone which was disconnected in the first 20 min they stole it
1 face to an alpine stereo that is completely useless except for bragging rights that they broke into a car and stole a f*cking FACE!

1 quarter
7 dimes
6 knickles
20 pennies

sad huh?

geez ophdeheezy, thats quite a story . so they actually stole your loose change? oh my god that is pathetic. anywho, i found some more stuff missing today. here is my little list so far.

1 Pioneer 7200 w/ remote and dash kit: $400
1 Audiovox 2 way radio: $40
A set of craftmen's tools and bag: $200
Passenger side window: $265
Passenger side tint: $40

Add those up and it comes so close to $1000 which is my deductible on my insurance . I got screwed pretty bad. I have to fork all that money out of my pocket. There goes AEM pullies and test pipe.....

G_Loc, i think i remember seeing the Compustars on Ebay before. try looking there or on their website at http://www.compustar.org/ . its a pretty cool site .

I see what you mean about the alarm, the paging system is probably the best part of that alarm, really. It's only too bad you hadn't gotten the alarm before the theft, but chalk that up to human nature; that's how people tend to operate, on reaction, rather than prevention.
