break-in period question and other JDM engine Q's
Hey, couple questions:
is there a break in period on new pistons and/or cams after they've been installed? I ask because eventually I'd like to purchase a JDM H22a and while it's out, change the belts etc. and install/have installed Type-S pistons and cams, but I'm wondering since so many people who do the swap don't achieve VTEC the first time due to not properly wiring things up, how could you diagnose whether or not your swap is VTECing if you're supposed to keep the RPMs down while the new parts break in? Or would it be dandy to press into VTEC range once or twice to check?
Second:
Type-S pistons are sold in two sizes: standard and .25 overbore. A) are the .25 overbored pistons actually larger, or is it a ring thing.
B) If you're swapping them into a used JDM H22a, which do you get, standard or overbored?
when installing pistons, you have to actually remove/lower the crankshaft out of the block, correct?
thanks if you can humor my mindless questions with answers.
