Brake preferences AEM / BREMBO

I'm considering purchasing either Brembo rear/front rotors zinc plated for 296 shipped + 99 for 2 sets of AEM brake pads, or the AEM pads and the AEM O.E. front kit for 399.

The difference mainly seems to be the AEM is larger.

I was looking for your preferences, and experiences with the two; any disadvantages of either setup that I’ve overlooked. I’ve been informed that larger means better stopping, but would like more input on this.

I'm upgrading my brakes right now. Personally I didn't figure that upgrading anything on my rear brakes was worth it so I decided I would just upgrade the fronts. My stock brakes were that of a SR (10" rotors and 1 piston calipers). The upgrade I decided on was the Legend caliper/vtec rotor upgrade. You get Legend calipers which are a 2 piston design and vtec rotors which are an inch (11.1") bigger than the sr rotors. All this bolts right up and it can still fit under stock 15" rims. The total price for me was 110us shipped for the legend calipers + 95us shipped for vtec brembo blanks + 65cdn shipped for KVR front brake pads...total cost = 245us shipped for everything.

your best bet...x-drilled and slotted rotors are overkill for street use...i recommend brembo blanks and hawk pads...i just ordered my brembo blanks front and rear today and total cost is $150shipped to my door in 3-4 days....try www.collettimotorsports.com fronts are $36 a piece and rear is $26....thats good enough...if you want more stopping power then upgrade the caliper to legend or nsx caliper...thats good enough...

I've got the same setup that SloMo is talking about and I love them! I have to take a trip to a parking lot and practice my emergency stops because I'm not used to the Legend brakes and I keep locking them up when the **** hits the fan, they've got great power! My car never came with ABS so it's also kinda challenging to trail brake really deep into corners.

Kev, did you end up getting those pads from Contemporary?? how do you like them?

Were'd you find the Legend Calipers? And will Brembo vtec rotors fit with little or no work?

No, I talked to contemporary and they told me they couldn't get them so I ordered them from Nick at AutoZeal. They haven't arrived yet so my brakes are still sitting in the garage.

Kev, how did you pop your pistons out of the caliper? The rubber gasket around my pistons is all twisted up from me messing around with it.

With the pads out I stuck a block of 1x4 wood in the pad area and used a little computer duster compressed air can to pop them out. It doesn't take much pressure at all to get them to come out, and be sure to stick some wodd or something in there as they come out pretty fast!
