Brake lights stay on

Has anyone ever had this problem? My brake lights wont turn off, i havent messed with any wiring or anything and it doesnt look like my anything is keeping the brake peddle down. I have to disconnect my battery to keep them off. Does anyone know what it could be?

I'm willing to bet it's a problem with your brake pedal switch. There is a small rubber or plastic "pad" that mounts to the pedal arm where the brake switch contacts. Sometimes they will fall out, then the plunger on the switch can go THROUGH the resulting hole so that it never turns the lights off.

I was refering to part #20 in the following diagram. That part got old and brittle and fell out on my sisters 1986 Prelude, and caused the same problem.
