"Brake Lamp" light/resistors question...

OK, so I'm working on finalizing the new LED tails (ooh, thats a tease eh?). And of course the resistance of the LEDs isnt correct so my BRAKE LAMP pops on. I need opinions and insight on either:

A: how to wire in resistors to make it think that the stock lights are OkeeDokee....or

B: what wire going into the sensor (mounted on the white part that holds the tail bulbs) sends this signal and is there a way to bypass it.

I'm new with this whole resistors thing so if you need Ohms, Volts, Watts or whatever off the LEDs to help me figure what resistors I need then let me know. Help?!?!?

Kevin

mine look completely stock, just with 8 bulb LED in the running/brake, and 4 bulb in the turn signal, left the reverse stock. I'll try to get a comparison pic of the LED vs stock this evening (thats when it really makes a difference).

I got a set of "Spiderlites" LEDs for my tails and it also set off the "Brake Lamp" on the dash. A friend who is a Honda tech told me that if the new bulbs aren't EXACTLY the same draw as the stock bulbs (or replacements of same type) that the light will keep tripping the sensor. They told me I'll just have to live with it or block off the dash light, since they can't legally do it for me.

I know when you use LED's as turn signals you need some kind of in-line resistor since they flash independently of the brake lights, but mine were replacing the brake lights only, so it shouldn't be needed in my case.

I ended up just removing the dash facing on my '92 and blocking the "BRAKE" lamp off- it drove me crazy otherwise.

Get a digital multimeter, meter the resitance (ohms) of a regular bulb, then meter the led replacement that you have. Simple math will tell you what ohm value of resistor(s) you will need.
