brake help

hey i need to replace my oem brake pads and rotors i was just wondering if you guys could help and me some advice...

i have a 92 honda prelude sr non-vtec and i was wondering how are the vtec pads and rotors different than the non-vtec? are they similar in front and rear? if i buy vtec pads and rotors will they fit my prelude or would i have to get non-vtec ones?

another question is what is the big difference in slotted and drilled rotors? whats better? i heard that slotted are better because of the more surface area???? and what kind of brake pads should i consider?

any suggestions on what brake pad and rotors recommended? I was thinking about brembo brakes and aem pads or hawk hps...what kind of rotors would be best for daily driving and occassional racing? slotted/drilled/both??? what kind of pads should i get?

if you guys have any suggestions or past experiences it would be greatly appreciated..could you also list what kind of brakes are currently on your car? thanks for the help

for a daily driver, I would just get some brembo drilled/slotted rotars, and some normal brembo pads, or even some duralast craps from autozone... they're all the same really.... As far as i know, vtec rotars/pads ARE different so I wouldn't reccomend getting them. They won't make much a difference for what you're doing anyways.

cross drilled/slotted rotars help reduce heat on the rotar. The less heat buildup = better stopping power and less wear.

Yes they are different. I do believe we all have the same rears but the fronts are defiantly bigger on the vtec

Most people think they have performance value now, they did back in the day, but now, they could be detrimental to your pads and braking. How could slotted rotors provide more surface area when you are taking a chunk out it?

You daily drive and no road racing (as in the road course track and not street race), then just get oem, autozone, or cheaper axxis (for a more performance orientated drive)

For track, well that's a whole other subject.

brembo blanks are good, (don't get cross drilled or slotted). Racing as described above, I would get street pads and then different road racing pads like some cobalts or hp blues.

I've had axxis ultimates, ebc green stuff, hawk hp+. For street I would stick with ebc green stuff or axxis ultimates. I liked the ebc's slightly more. The hp+'s are a little too aggressive for daily driving.

I would not recommend this opinion other than getting some blank rotors + some decent pads.

Cross drilled / slotted rotors do not really help reduce heat. If you think about it logically, air doesn't conduct heat better than metal. So having "air holes" kind of defeats the purpose.
