Brake fluid? Where?

Hi folks! I bought a 1993 Prelude Si 4WS a little while ago, and I'm not driving it around until I get it how I want it but I am taking it for a few spins. The ABS light comes on shortly after I start driving, so after digging around (I dig that Search function!), I've come to the conclusion it's probably the brake fluid level. I see one reservoir on the left side, but it's within the listed limits; is there another one that I'm missing somewhere? This is something that I haven't been able to find here, and I've never had a car before that had 4 wheel disc brakes so I'm thinking that there's probably something I'm missing. Thanks!!!

there is one toward the left and one toward the right

be careful with the ABS light.....it could be a # of things! but a leak is a common problem......

As you look from the front fender to the back the small one on the right is the clutch fluid, bigger one on the left is the brake fluid. You can use both fluids in each resevoir.

I would check for leaks or a possible sensor damage on your ABS hubs on your shafts.

Have fun.

Tom

yes there is clutch fluid near one brake fluid reservoir, and there is another brake fluid reservoir toward the left side of the engine bay. you will want to concentrate on that one. look right next to your FUSE BOX.

good luck!

Yeah guys, thanks for the help! I was able to locate that reservoir! Now, I noticed that both reservoirs are in fact full; the left one seems filled with a clearer liquid, the right one is much darker. So there goes my hope that it was just a little low... however, they're both filled beyond the MAX listed line, and I think somewhere on here I read that's just as bad as it not filled enough. Is this true? If so, what can I use to lower the levels? Thanks again dudes!!

P.S. Yeah, I'm here in South Florida - Miami, to be exact.

If it is not toooo far above the 'max' line, I would not worry about it. Besides, I doubt the ABS light would come on because of that!

What I did was went to Honda and had them run their ALB/ABS diagnostic tester (It is a tester just for the ABS system, and I am guessing they are the only place that have it). It will most likely show your problem. A bad sensor is one of the more common problems. Are your brakes acting different?

:-D good luck
