when i did mine, i also rebuilt the shifter part on top of the trans cause it was leaking/seeping a bit. it required 2 seals that were quite cheap, and was ultra easy to do once the trans was out. i also replaced the little shifter boot part on top there. make sure youve got the clutch alignment tool handy when you do this, along with the appropriate tool to hold to the flywheel in place while you tighten things down. get Honda MTF or 10w40 will do the trick(says so in the Helms), i dont have my helms handy but i think i used 2 or 3 quarts...

I don't know if you're replacing your flywheel (you should at least get it turned/trued), but if it's coming off, I'd recommend popping a new rear main in. It's the only time you're going to have easy access to it, and it's not that hard to do. From what I've seen, most dealership's stock the part.

10w40 does it really?

i was told no motor oil will work. tranny fluid has special compounds or whatever that is needed by the tranny.

just go to dealer and get the tranny fluid.

don't quote me but it's like 7 or 8 bucks a bottle... u'll need 2.

Yes, it takes just about 1 and 2/3 quarts. I've used 10W-30 for all 180k+ miles and never, knock wood/my head, without any problems. The OEM shop manual even suggests straight motor oil.
