Bigger Spark Plug Wires = Less Hp?

A friend and I just bought new MSD IGNITION spark plug wires. He has aleady installed them on his integra GSR, and says he was faster before he put the new wires on. He has Denzo iridium spark plugs and I have my factory NGK plugs. Should I install these new wires? I only have i/h/e/magnaflow cat. Do i need anymore major mods before these wires will help me? Will I lose any torque or HP by installing them? Thanks for your help.

first off, all plug wires are the same size... its just the amount of insulation that makes them appear bigger (also helps for conduction)... after that it all comes to money you're willing to spend

I personally just put MSD 8.5mm superconductor wires on my lude, and I felt an immediate jump (back to original stock settings first tune up in 60k miles, i know its not good)

hope that helps out a little bit

Ignition should not really effect the power of a car unless it is very high out put of there is something wrong.

Thicker wire means more current is required to push it through. Aftermarket wires are only good if you are using high powered igntion, OEM are the best.

On vtec.net I saw dyno results of Honda OEM and 8.5mm wires, where 8.5mm wires showed very choppy curve with less hp than OEM which had a very smooth curve.

like i said before, all wires are the same size, when i replaced mine, i took a look at the actual wire, not the outside diameter. only diference is the resistance and insulation... go look for your self... less resistance means the more current can flow through...

yep it's all insulation. i think oem performs well cause of quality which is why i stuck with ngk who makes the oem ones.
