I was just wondering, what company makes big brake kits for the 4th gen. I've been looking and not found any results. I've seen people with kits from wilwood and brembo on 4th gen but I cannot find where to get those. If someone knows a company that sells big brake kits for 4th gen please give a link to it. Thanks in advance.
I would highly suggest a vtec brake conversion before you spend the big bucks. the parts can be had for $150 or so and it's a fairly easy upgrade - if I can do it, anyone can do it. It made a big difference

+1. Its a simple upgrade. The hardest part is probably bleeding the system.
Atm, I probably won't be doing any racing, but in the future I most likely will. If I do upgrade to Vtec brakes first, where would I buy them? And what would be the difference if I just went straight to the Big Brake Kit instead of having the Vtec brakes installed first?
there probably wouldn't be any difference if you skipped the vtec brakes other than you wouldnt know what the vtec brakes were like. you can find sets of calipers around here in the classifieds. there are several 5th gen part outs right now. the front brakes are the only ones that are different. you need the front caliper and bracket. theoretically, you can just get the bracket and use the Si calipers, but i suggest using both the vtec caliper and bracket. then get some (at the very least) brembo blanks and then nissin (oem) pads.
I got mine from a fellow member (Jay) for a great deal. If you want some like-new ones, contact Mike, but used ones may be fine from a part out. It's up to you.
I will have to agree, yet disagree. When I did the vtec conversion, I noticed quite a bit of difference in the initial "bite." I think it had to do with more surface area and the same amount of force being applied. I did not notice a decrease in braking distance - but I really never tested it.
However, I did notice quite a difference when I had to change my rotors. I went from having worn rotors with autozone duralast pads (cheapo lifetime warranty) to having brembo blanks + nissin (oem) pads all around....much better afterwards by far
I noticed a good bit of good bite as well. But do you think if it was that .9 inches smaller rotor was of good quality + pads as the vtec setup, I am willing to bet it would feel just as good.
As an almost irrelevant test, look at the latest episode of top gear where they take that normal car and throw some freakishly huge bbk on the car + better tires. The car actually was slower than the stock setup. Now this could be interference from the ABS not being able to cope with the larger setup, but DR's old prelude used to run on duralast rotors and race pads on what are vtec brakes. If he can be competitive on NASA's circuit on basically a stock system, I think we're all pretty good for the street (fyi he has a bbk now).
I think for the 4th gen, the vtec swap is probably the best thing you can do or similar OEM replacement (nsx). BBK's are nice for looks and/or that bit more performance. They're just expensive to maintain.
