I have a 92 prelude 4WS. I just got a WW RS front lip, and now I occasionaly scratch on driveways and bumps. I dont want the car to be any lower than it is. I got some koni's and skunk2 coilovers (which I ordered before I got the lip). Im gonna install the koni's, but would like some springs that are a little better than stock, but dont want to be lower. I was wondering what I should do?
Should I use the adjustable koni's with stock springs? Should I use adjustable koni's with skunk2 coilovers, and keep the coilovers at stock height? Or does someone make a stiff springs that is stock height? Any other ideas?
Thanks, Jordan

Would stock springs and konis set at the stiffest provide really good race track traction? Or would a spring like an eibach prokit be beneficial? Also, how do skunk2 coilovers set to stock height compare to stock springs?

well i think it would be ok. But of course it would be better to have stiffer springs for better handling. I never dealt with skunk2 coilovers so i cant really answer that question. But i imagine it might be a little bumpier. Maybe someone with the skunks can help you with that.

Do you know if anyone makes springs that are less than 1" drop and stiff?

You could always order springs from Ground Control or Eibach. You can specify the length and everything to retain stock height, but also specify stiffness

Really... What does something like that cost for just the springs? If I get coilovers, I might as well just keep the skunk2s.

You don't have to get coilovers. That's what I'm saying. You can just order springs with the same dimensions as stock, but stiffer and replace your stock springs. That's the way I would do it. Give Ground Control a call to make sure though, they're pretty good people to talk to.
if you get a kit on your car and have a huge wheel gap...that looks nasty....i got the black widow kit...which goes down wayyy lower than the RS kit....i slam my car 3 inches with no problem....you just gotta know how to drive around pot holes and avoid speed bumps..your stock set of springs and shocks are the best combo cuz they provide a soft ride..however, if you slap your Konis on stock brings....not only will you waste 500 bucks right there, you but you will also be hurting your ass from the stiffness....
i'm really confused as to why you would want to change springs but don't want it lower...stock brings ride the best..
I have Ground Control coilovers. If I had known then that I could have ordered stock-1" spring lengths that were stiffer, I would have done that instead in a heartbeat. But then again I don't have a kit, nor am I worried about wheel gap.

Umm... To increase handling capabilities. The reason for the springs, is beucase the stock ones are kinda soft. Also, I bought the konis with Skunk2s already installed, so I am thinking It might be worth just keeping them..

the point of lowering your car is inducing the center of gravity...so that would improve handling....if you gonna change your springs and not change the heigh, the difference wouldn't be terribly noticeable...why don't you lower your car about 2 inches with the skunk 2's and take a 35 ramp going 75....you'd then appreciate the handling capabilities of the prelude...

35 in 75? Done that with stock height and my 4WS...
Anyway, I wanna lower it, I am just concerned about speed bumps drive ways, and California's many sh*tty roads. I just dont want to mess up my newly paint WW front lip.
I think I'll try lowering the car like 1"-1.5 and take it from there. Also, whats the deal with alignment for the new coilovers/struts? If the height and stiffness are being altered often, when is it worth getting an alignment?

You can put the Konis on the lowest perches, I'm not sure how much that lowers it but probably around 1/2". I have the Tanabe Sustec H's which were discontinued, they lower 3/4"-1". A replacement is supposed to be coming later this year. Anything over 1.5" drop on a street car is counterproductive.
