I rev up as much as possible and drop the brake when it's time to go. I can't wait for my 5 speed swap.

If you are going to street race you are better off going from a roll. That way you don't have to worry about launching. Autos suck

ok here to help my fellow auto drivers out ther, i was told to hold the brake and feather the gas till around 3k. but i have gone to 4k, but it is not as smooth, (plenty of wheel hop) so u guys will have to experirement intil u find ur sweet spot.

never ever keep it in neurtal, then slam it into drive, not unless u wanna new tranny tand swap to MT

Probably better off releasing brake and floorin it so theres no damage. For those who say Autos suck if you have a turbo autos are faster because the turbo doesnt have to respool every gear, but with the prelude stick is definintly better because its the only way to get VTEC.

?? I hate to break it to you but an auto turbo isn't any faster the car still shifts and the turbo should still be spinning with a pretty good rate after a fraction of a second for a shift. The auto tranny can take the power of a turboed engine anyway unless you spend more money on it.

Fot auto drivers just do not neutral drop your car. That will take out the tranny in no time.

so your saying dont put it in neutral, rev, and drop into d4? if not that then what other way is there besides foot on brake and gas, then releasing the brake?

There's no other way to do it but to step on the brake and accel pedal at the same time and bring it to 2-3K rpm, then let go of the brake. Be sure to put the lever on "1" and shift your way up to 2, d3 and d4. Neutral drops are

-->Tip: 5 speed is WAY better than 4 speed & manual is still the king when it comes to launching a car.

-->Another tip: don't race in an auto...get a manual swap.

Yeah, that's what I do with my auto... hold the brake down, rev up to 3k, then release brake and slowly floor it on gear "1". If you floor it right away you'll get wheel spin and that's not good if the other guy knows how to launch without spinning his wheels. Taking off slowly is better than peeling on the launch if you think about it...cause you'll be moving (slowly), but it's better than peeling and staying in the same place, right?

After launching on gear 1, I shift to 2 right when redlining, then D3, then D4. I notice way better gains than letting the auto do its shifting on its own as it shifts like 1000 or 2000 rpm's before redline. I hear it's more wear and tear on the tranny by shifting on auto like this but I plan to do a manual swap soon, and my '95 Si has 64k miles on it.

no u dont ..it is all in ur head...the transmission will shift at redline either way...you guys want to blow your tranny and **** it up go ahead and shift it like a moron...who taught u that stupid thing?? thats what ppl in auto muscle cars do... a lot of auto cars dont redline...like for example my friends auto jetta..it doesnt redline when he floors it so he would benefit from shifting it...even tho it will still do damage...our cars redline tho...so dont shift it..do you're car a favor

The one advantage an auto has I guess is no missed shifts. and apparently they handle power very well.
My friend who has a 550HP 300ZX...hes actually gonna switch it from a manual to a auto so it can handle more power Makes sense though I guess..

yeah, you notice more power shifting it yourself. I think it shifts faster that way too.
