92-95 is obd1 96 is obd2
(on board diagnostics)

obd1 is better when you mod the car.

i would keep my eyes open for a 93-95 vtec. the si is also an excellent buy if your wallet doesnt stretch enough, but driving a vtec lude is a blast. honda made a few interior and exterior changes from 93 to 94, you may want to check them out. primarily the interior. obd is the system that monitors the car for emissions, obdII was stricter to modifications than obdI. please correct me if im wrong..

in my opinion...i think the best year was the 95...i mean the interior is tight and the engine(from my experience) didn't really have as much of a problem as anyother one...i think the 96 woulda been a great year too but they had to go with the obdII instead of obdI....that obdII just gets in the way of modding your ride.....oh yeah, good luck finding any 4th gen with a VTEC in it...man are they rare!!

id personally look for a 4ws lude because any joe shcmoe mechanic can drop a motor in your car, but who is gonna attempt to add 4ws? If you could id try for a 94 4ws

They're actually pretty easy to find on e-bay...

I would look for a 93 or 94 vtec. Only difference between the 2 is the interior. The 94 has a better cluster and their interior comes stock w/ leather if you get the VTEC trim. I've heard that some of the 95s are OBD2 since they made them a yr before they put them out for 96. 96 is the OBD2, so don't get that one. I personally think the 94 is faster, i've driven one that was bone stock, and the car just pulls very hard.
