The best engine for a lude

Ok I have a little problem. I want an engine that can beat a dodge viper. My friends type R did it, and that pisses me off. I have no clue what he has under the hood, so it wouldn't be worth asking. What I want to know is what is the best engine and best turbo for that engine. I want to destroy him without the NOS.

its possible.. I guess anything is possible. But its gonna cost some major $$

If you wanna beat a viper in a drag run sell the prelude! Buy a civic/dsm/or something along those lines and mod it but it will cost you.

I have a similar problem. There's too much traffic. I want my Prelude to be able to do VTOL and fly. Airplanes can do it, but I don't know what's under the hood, so there's no point in asking. I want to know what's the best antigravity motor available without magic or NOS.

ya, ehehe thats a tall order.. specially from a 2800+ pound car..... w/ nobody in it.

You COULD completely gut the prelude, fiberglass front end (as far as you can go without doing a tube-chasis), h22 fully built w/ T66 turbo running 24psi.... you've be in the ball park. Don't forget the trannsmision and lsd... got get the power to the ground!!! all in all.. its do-able............. if your Richy Rich. =]

I just watched a video of a street looking Civic embarrassing a Viper. They only run low 12's-high 11's stock with a perfect driver. The average JOE runs high 12's-low 13's for traction reasons. I have driven one, and they are almost impossible to launch even though you have 3 feet of rubber in the rear. All they want to do is spin tires. I think a nice T4/T3 setup at 15+psi with a 75-100 shot should do the trick along with some major weight reduction. It's realistic, but probably a $15-20,000 job if not more! At this price, you could've bought a Supra TT or used Skyline, but that's why we're finatics. Nothing like beating 482CI/450hp of Detroit Muscle with a 130CI/400hp piece of Japanese power.

Dude man it was a simple question, you didn't have to blow me. I just wanna know if the JDM H22 is the best engine for the lude. My budget will be about 8k for my lude. Not just for engine.

turbocharging alone would eat up most of that budget.

ls1 swap.
LS1 swap with an "all tubbed out" (redneck voice) front end for your oversized drag radials.

My thing about what you want to do is simple. If you have that small of a budget no way you will be able to do it, sorry that is just how it is. I have a friend who dropped a H22 into an Accord, including cost of car he has put about $20,000 into the car, he is doing all of the work (labor and stuff) on top of that he gets all of his parts cheap cuz he works for a performance store, anyhow you won't be able to get a RELIABLE car that is that fast for $8,000.

$8000 not fast? For $8k I can run mid-low 13's all day long. Crossing the 11/12 second threshold is the big $$$...
