To set the balance shafts to the right timing, you will need to remove the service plug on the lower back of the block slightly above and aft of the crank pulley on the back side of the block. You can see it on the drivers side of the car, remove the wheel, look above oil pan. There are 2 plugs one has an allen head bolt and the other is just a regular bolt. Remove the service plug, and insert a long Philips screwdriver. You will need to rotate the balance shafts independently until the screwdriver goes in. There are holes in the balance shafts that the screwdriver passes through, this locks the shafts in place. Make sure the engine is at TDC before removing any belts. If you already removed belts or what not, then use the timing marks on the cam gears, crank pulley, and balancer shaft pulleys to set them all the TDC. then isnsert Screwdriver in the service hole. This will keep the Balance shafts from spinning while doing maintenance. My suggestion is to buy the Helms manual for your car. There is a complete section on this.
