bad starter? - Honda Prelude Forum

Lately when i go to start my car, it kinda drags as it starts... like the turn-over is real slow, then it fires up. Sometimes it takes two tries too... on the second time it fires right up.

But now, my car wont even turn over about 20% of the time. I'll run into the bank, come out, and car wont start. The battery is only 2 years old. I dont think it could be the alternator since nothing in my car dies. Also, sometimes when the car turns over and starts, immediatly after it starts, a grinding sound happens. Much like the sound you hear if you try to turn your key over when the car is already on. Could it be the starter?

The times when you run into the bank is it only a couple of minutes after the car as been running? When you turn the ignition it just cranks and cranks but never turns over? Then after a couple of minutes it'll start fine?
