Bad Speed Sensor = CEL?

About the same time my speedometer stopped working (you guys diagnosed it as a bad speed sensor), my check engline light also came on...

I noticed when I run the engine hard, the check engine light comes on...

Sometimes I'm just cruising and it comes on..... I still haven't fixed the speed sensor yet (someone sell me one) ... just wondering if the speed sensor could contribute to a Check Engine Light, or if I got bigger problems...
