Is this bad?

I was out on a nice sunny day driving my lude the other day heading to my friend's house. While on the interstate going about 70 MPH at 4,000 RPM I hear a very loud noise come from under my hood. I knew something was wrong...

Smoke began pouring out at the edges of my hood blocking my vision of the road. I try braking but for some reason they no longer work! I began to panic. I can't see where I am going with all the white smoke everywhere. I feel my lude hit some kind of bump and suddenly lose control. I look out the passenger side window and I see an oncoming car heading straight toward the side of my car. Luckily my car spun around and slid into the ditch. I got out of the car and popped the hood to see what caused this nightmare. I found this:

The camshaft had broken off of the cam gear.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, all of the previous information was a joke. I thought I would spice up this thread a little bit. Anyway, that cam gear actually came out of the lude that I bought for $250. Anyone know what might have caused the camshaft to break apart from the cam gear like that?
