backfiring issues

sorry to bring this topic up again..i tried the search function, and none of it really helped so i'm trying to revisit it....ne ways, here's my siutation:
my car backfire's really bad when the engine is revving down...
i have a tanabe racing medallion full catback...and i've changed my plugs recently to denso irridiums but i stil haven't changed my wires...also when i acclerate softly, i feel a little jerk or hestitation right around 4500rpm... am i due in for some new wires?and also, what could be causing the back fire? thanks again guys...
btw, i have a 96 vtec w/ 101k miles if that helps

Check your distributor timing before anything else. If the wires have 101k on them, might as well just get a new set of wires.
