by the way, just use any cheap 10w30 motor oil until you get this problem resolved. you're wasting money and time going to honda and buying that stuff right now.

sigh... again... check your mounts.. i had this problem!...
even though they are tightened down, they may be BENT... make sure your motor is centered... you probably wont be able to tell so get it on a lift and get a second opinion. Did you use your original mounts? or ones that were sold to you.. used? possibly this motor (and mounts) came out of a wrecked car which caused the mounts to get bent... many possibilities to why this could be the reason... let me know

I'll re-check the motor mounts. Well the mounts I'm using are my old stock ones. I'm pretty sure they're still in good condtion. Looks like there's no bends or anything. The motor sits pretty even in there. I'll have my friend come look at it for a second opinion. Well I didn't check if the axle slides easily at the joint. I'll check that too.

My friend told me that it could be because the tranny that I'm usin is from a newer model lude. The axles are a lil bigger or something to that effect. This true?? Do the newer trannies use bigger axles?? I had a 92 lude SI(JDM h22a now) which is when the first prelude came out. Does anybody know how to check what year the tranny is?? Thanks for all the info. That's why I like coming to this board!

hondaplex, did both of your axles come out or did just the passenger side come out. So did your axle gradually come out too?? It's kinda hard to explain. When the axle is in all the way, I'll spin the tires to see if it stays in. The axle slides out slowly. It doesn't really pop out. It slides out. This is gettin me tons of gray hairs!

nope.. it was just the passenger side one that kept sliding out...
the motor was not where it should be so it kept one of them in fine but i would be driving and the passenger side would gradually slide out and i would hear like a grinding/rubbing noise... i would still be able to drive on it but it was scary.. sounded like it was grinding up my tranny. Luckily no damage was caused... i had someone look at it on a lift and he saw right away that it was the center lower engine mount and sure enough that was the problem.

lol i feel your pain.. my damn redline problem has already given me a ton of gray hairs... damn cars! sigh.. who the hell invented VTEC anyways!? lol j/k we all love it

sounds exactly like the problem I have. How do I tell if my motor is in correctly?? I looked at it and it looks pretty even to me. You think I should try to re-align the motor again??

yeah its redlining at 6500 instead of 7700... as for the vtec i suppose it is working... i hooked up my VAFC to monitor the signal and its getting a VTEC-in signal from the computer at 5400-5500.. but hell... kicking in at 5500.. then get cut off at 6500... its useless.

How could you tell? honestly that i couldnt tell you... if it was me i probably wouldnt have been able to tell or would have guessed that was the problem... i took it to someone, they lifted it up and he looked underneath the car and he said that was the problem right away.. it sounded reasonable to me so he changed the mount and the problem went away...

if you dont want to take it to anyone (which i dont blame you, im stubborn like that too) look at it again... see if theres anyway the engine could be pushed over even barely to the side where it is coming out... if all else fails.. take it to someone... get it over with! and start driving it!

I forgot to ask, which mount was it that he fixed?? Did he re-align the motor or did you buy a new mount to replace it??
