Autometer gauge light power hook up..

Where did you guys tap power for gauge lights to go on when i turn on the headlights? I was going to tap it to the tailight fuse, but found out that fuse is in the underhood fusebox.

I was looking at the fusepanel on the drivers side and didn't see a fuse i could tap into whereas it will turn on the guage lights when i turn on my headlights..

Thanks for any help.

I don't think you'll be able to tape into a fuse for that.

but here is the wiring scheme

There are two spots in the fuse panel that run power. One is constant and the other is acc. power that comes on with the light. If you get some female spade connectors you can tap right into it and you are good to go. I would never splice to ash tray light wire. Too much risk in burning your car to the ground.

Get a fuse tester and check which one is which. It has been too long since I've been under there.
