Automatic Locks

I noticed a long time ago and thought it was a fluke or I had left the other door unlocked, but I just realized the other day that if I unlock my car from the passenger side, the auto locks unlock the other door. The same is not true from the driver side, which would be awesome. Then I realized in japan, this is the driver side.

So is that something that didn't get swapped over for the US preludes. Does anyone know what Im talking about? I would be cool to swap this to the driver side door.

It's normal don't worry about it. It's a courtesy feature. The reason why they do this assuming you don't have remote locks, is it's common courtesy to unlock the passenger door first if you have a guest. Especially if it's a woman you'd open the door for her as well. So after they've gotten in and you walk around to your side the door is unlocked already for you so you don't have to unlock it again. People don't care these days, most guys don't open doors for guests anymore. They just unlock the car and let them get in them self.

If it was the other way people would never open doors for their guest they'd just unlock it from the drivers side and get in. Plus if you're driving alone you don't need the passenger side door unlocked all the time.

Yea it sounds like bull**** but yea.
