Auto Vtec

OK guys, originally I was planning on selling my auto S 4th gen lude and buying a 4th gen 5 speed..well that can't happen so I've been looking at Auto vtecs. I know all of you are going to say get a 5 speed and believe me I want it but it can't happen. So i can get an auto vtec swap for $2K and can get it dropped in for a low price. The question is, is it worth it? Are the power gains worth the $2K and will I be able to stay in Vtec? Because I know I don't have much control of my car shifting wise, and I was thinking won't I drop out of vtec too early?? What do you guys think? Is it worth it to go auto vtec?? (PS i have auto S lude right now)

power difference from a S to a VTEC...yes you will notice a big difference...and keeping it in vtec...my friend has a JDM auto h22 in his accord adn he can keep it in vtec if he shifts from gear to gear manually...but not if he just leaves it in drive....if you really really really dont want a stick....then go for itjust make sure you get the JDM ECU too...or itll never work

4G Prelude VTEC's only come it MT. If you are looking for an Auto VTEC then you'll have to get the 5G Sport Shift.

Wrong.

You can get jdm h22's with auto trannies. Make sure you get the auto ecu for it as well. Personally if you are going to do the swap I would try to save a little more and change to a 5spd the same time you get the new engine.

i think when you just leave it in D4 and floor the gas....the gear automaticly change once it hit red line..but if you change from gear to gear manually then you may go past redline cuz it's take time to switch.....not like manual......

vtec

if you leave it in d3ord4 itll hit vtec after a certain rpm, you'll still feel it, you'll totally be able to hear it if you have an intake, i used to have a 96 civic until i wrecked it racing(r.i.p.) hehe and you could still hear it kick in, friggin awesome......

i am getting that swap too...i have a 92 si...its stock minus short intake, msd wires and straight piping back to my muffler but its a lot faster than it should for an si with 160,000 miles on it...what i am afraid of is that i get the h22 auto and its slower than my h23 auto
where you getting the motor and tranny from? i fould a place for 2075 and it comes with everything but i have to have it shipped here...not so crazy about that...where you live? i am in NY...all the place here can only get me the 5 speed swap not the auto swap

Hey where did you get the engine and transmission? My H23 is dying on me and I'm interested in getting a swap.

Peace

you are selling the tranny, ecu and tranny control unit for $700? if i get this can i get any 4th gen h22 and bolt it up to the tranny and it will work or does the auto h22 have something different? just got the kit done and getting h22 in soon...as soon as i find a good deal that is

Bolts up to any H22a. Like I said I cant use the ecu because mine is a five speed. I told to sell all three together for 1000 but I can't use any of it so its just at my show sitting in a box. Just want to get rid of it but wont go for less than 700 for all three because you can't find any of the items in the states.

trust me...it falls out of vtec when it shifts...even w/ a vafc adn lowering the vtec engagement, we could get it to stay in vtec...but it lost power cuz it engaged too low...im pretty sure it didnt go all the way to redline either
H22 accord doin donuts

Naw I'm not really located in Peurto Rico. I live in Oklahoma. I just don't like saying all the things I have on my car and then letting them know where I live. There are some thugs out there.
Like I said it bolts right up to it and if you have a H23 you can use the same motor mounts. The ECU is self explanitory. I have not yet compared a VTEC TCU and a h23 TCU. I imagine they are pretty close. Probably a simple 1 or 2 wires more. Not sure but can look into it.

So what do you guys suggest I do about my predicament?? I mean stayin auto is cheaper but will it be worth the 2K? or should I just save and get the auto to 5 speed conversion and then the swap? Tell me what u guys think
