Auto Sunroof Question

How can I rig my ('96) sunroof to have a switch like the driver's side window? Manual operation & one click automatic fully open.

I didn't fully comprehend this seeing I don't need to wire it to my alarm: http://www.preludeonline.com/showthr...hreadid=135479

Maybe I should read over it once more...

this is going to take some work...I am going to think this out moding nothing but the factory sunroof switch so nothing goofy.

ok.....this is going to be complicated...

first you would have to get at the wires on the motor on the sunroof. Then you would have to wire in a power window module (please make sure its adjustable) so that way its wired to open the sunroof. Then from there you would have 2 wires to run down to your switch:

Red - 12v
Orange - Ground to open roof

now on the open switch you would have to wire with a relay so factory wires stay in tac, in a signal converter which changes a pulsed or temporary ground into a permant ground for a certain length of time. Make it so when you pulse twice that it activates the output. Now on the output of the signal converter goes your orange wire for your activation of your power roof. Then on the close switch you need to wire in a relay so that way it cuts the power on the signal converter so when you want to stop the roof in the opening process and switch to close you won't "confuse" the motor and it will just sit there and do nothing.

Your total project cost is going to cost about $90-$100 and a weekend of work and you need to have a moderate knowledge of electrical circuits.

So in short this is how it should work when finished:

Open manually: Press and hold down factory open switch to desired and release
Open Automatically: Double press and NOT Hold the open to make it automatically open fully.
Close Manually: Press and hold factory close switch to desired and release.

Anymore questions?

Holy crap nevermind. I thought I'd just have to buy a few wires and some other electrical crap and rig it up and have a nice, cheap mod.

EDIT: Sorry, I don't see a difference in the post. Still too hard for me to do, lol. Thank you for the help though!

The post you posted viper was not updated

How To: Wire wire auto down/up window modules

That's a bit clearer - its easier to wire it up using a window module rather than relays. A window module is just that, a bunch of relays in a black box. The window module would cost you 50-75 depending on where you purchase it from.

ok thats how you hook it up with an alarm. Now how are you going to hook it up to the factory switch so it auto-opens without an alarm?

Did you read his post? he said work like a window switch WITHOUT wiring to alarm.

Exactly. I want it rigged up to the sunroof button, not the alarm.

You do need to rig it to an alarm, that's optional if you want remote control of the sunroof.

You can have auto up and down for $50 using a dei 530t as compared to. If you don't auto up, just don't connect the wires from the module for up.

The only difference is that it will not work exactly as the driverside switch. You would have to press open a second time to stop the sunroof where you want it.

Well thats great if you have the alarm control the sunroof. but the only thing is he wants is like the window switch and yours still isn't close to what he wants. All you got down is the auto up and down and thats about it.
