hmmm....i think i might take that 6x9 off your hands.
eventually I am going to put in some real subs (in fact i have 2 10's sitting in my room right now, minus amp). But this might be a good quick fix for now.
Do you have the 6x9 hooked up to an amp? or are you just using the "mini-amplifier"?

nevermind. :P
so prelude2005, do you have that kenwood hooked up to the mini-amp ?
You cant really run the 6x9 without an external amp (either the stock VTEC unit or an aftermarket one). You create all sorts of resistance problems when you try to run the 6x9 off the rear channel speakers. You can use basicly any 6x9 speaker though, a lot of people have liked the Kicker 6x9FC. . .its a 6x9 free air subwoofer. In my opinion, it's better to just upgrade to a single 10 inch sub and save your money. . .I went through the upgrade of the 6x9 and ended up just getting an IDQ 10 a few weeks later.

what were your impressions of the Kicker 6x9 freeair when you had it? And what did you have powering it?
I never said I had the Kicker. I had a Kenwood 3-way for my 6x9. A few people over on HP.com have used this speaker (the Kicker), and been pleased with it (maybe try a search over there). I'm not sure if they come in pairs or singles. I seem to remember a price of about $60 each. . .but it's been a while since I was hunting for them. I have an S model and didnt have the factory amp. I was powering my 6x9 with a kinda crappy Profile 3 Channel amp. It pushed about 35 watts to my front speakers plus 75 watts to the 6x9. Picked it up on Ebay for like $30. You could also get a small 4 channel amp and bridge 2 channels to create a 3 channel amp.
I ended up building this fiberglass enclosure (pic below). It's light, easy to remove, takes up little space, and looks basicly factory, and sounds MUCH better with a single 10 getting 250 watts. I'm building another one right now, and I'll be posting pics along the way. It's gonna be for sale if anyone is interested:
