Until recently, I drooled whenever I saw a fifth generation Lude, and swore that I'd have one. Lately though , the more I look at them, the more I like the body style of the 4th generation better. I still like the newer Ludes, but given a choice, I'd have to pick a 4th gen. Does anyone else feel this way? It's kinda a stupid question, I know, but I'm just curious.
Originally posted by Vtec93Lude well it's a nobrainer for me... that's why I chose to buy a 4thgen
it's more sporty looken I think... I just love the lines and curves
very sleek and tight ... nicely put together
4thgen = the best prelude ever made
Agreed! I sat in a 5th gen the day I bought my 4th gen. I liked the interior because it didn't feel to cramped for a sports car but I fell in love with everything when I saw mine. That's why I bought it!
When I bought my car, I couldn't have afforded a 5th Gen. It didn't matter though, I always wanted a 4th Gen. Until very recently, I've never really liked the way the 5th Gens looked. It's just starting to grow on me.

I agree also. Before I bought my 92, i saw a 2000 type SH at the dealership, and about fell over. I have to admit that the reason I bought the one that I did is because my heart was set on a Lude, but my wallet wasn't large enough to accomodate my wants. (ie: 2000 model) Now that I've had it for about 3 months, I absolutley love my car. I still find it hard to believe I have it. The more I drive it, the more I love it. My b/f gives me a hard time because there's not a lot of interior room, unlike his civic and his hatch. But that's what I love about the car. There's not a lot of room, and in my opinion, that makes for a better driving experience. More tight. Plus, the front seats are just awesome. He does like them, though. They're more like racing seats than what's in his cars.
I gotta admit, when I first got my car, I wasn't all that crazy about the big dash. What a dust collector! Armor-All is making a fortune off of me... But the good thing about the dash is that it's a perfect place to sit stuff when you eat in the car...plus, after driving it for awhile, the first time I sat in the driver's seat of my b/f civic, I didn't like it anymore....it's a beautiful car, but after sitting so low and tight in my Lude, I felt like I was way up in the air in the civic. Also, the gear shift in the civic is a lot looser than in mine, and I prefer a tighter shift and a shorter, fatter shift knob. His shift knob feels whimpy after I have my hand on mine for awhile. All around, I prefer my car over his. I'm glad I didn't take his advice and buy a civic because they were easier to find. I stuck to my guns and got the car of my dreams.
....but keep in mind the title of the forum ur in... FOURTH GENERATION. obviously peeps in here will lean towards the 4th, same as if u posted it in the 5th gen room ud get resounding 5th gen responses. might want to move it to general, and get a more balanced opinion
Exterior is very stylish. The leans are both clean and aggressive, so you have a nice sports car that looks agressive, but also a car that looks slick and classy. The 5th gen isnt very conservative looking, and not quite as agressive looking.
Our interior is nice. I love our digital fuel and temp gauges. This is so cool, no other cars have it. I fell in love with that when my friend got a 4th gen. The shape of the speedo and tach also look sport, unlike the round 5th gen gauges that look like they came out of a Honda Civic. Our seats are great, hold you very tight, and the shape is very similiar to those racing seats. I also like how all the controls (on the 92-93) are on the driver side, its almost as if our interior is built around the driver.
Performance is good, we are a bit lighter than the bulky 5th gens (although I have 4WS, so probably not). I cant compare the ahndling or braking to 5th gens (which I have never driven), and cant realy compare power, sicne I dont have an h22.
Only thing I like about the 5th gens, is that they are newer so less problemsome. Although once I get done redoing my whole car, that problem should be solved

I have big plans for my car...the first being a body kit and a new paint job. That should happen sometime this fall. The next thing after that is the engine swap. I've got my heart set on putting an H22 in it. But, I'm kinda undecided about the paint job I want. My car is silver, and it'd be cheaper to keep it silver. I was going to go with more flake in the paint, but now I'm leaning toward just a plain silver with some violet mixed in. What do you guys think? Keep in mind that I am a chick.. and purple is my favorite color. I think it would look great.

Difference in weight: 22 lbs
Brakes: Same
Handling: Edge to 5th gen for body rigidity
Engine: Same...no one wants to admit that extra 5-10hp does not exist. Yes a couple things are different (open vs. closed deck) but it is the same engine. Marketing bastards....
hate to admit it but, yes i my self is wanting a fifth gen prelude also. the styling is nice and it's becoming more and more appealing to me. But i still have much love for the fourth gens they aren't as square and box like body as the fifth. My opinion if you planning on makin your car a showoffer like with kits, rims, and things like that, a fourth gen totally. but if you want just a plain car just drop with rims i think a fifth gen looks better... but still fourth gens rule all......
I was actually going to the dealership to get a 5th gen and the day I was going to buy it someone traded in a 4th gen 96 with 20000 and fell in love right there. I never really looked at 4th gens until that day. Man I am so happy I didn't buy a 5 th gen I think they look to sedan like. Just my .02
Hey Guys,
The 4th gen Lude is definatly the most unique Lude EVER. It is my favorite Lude due to it's, beautiful curves and body lines. The 4th gen lude is doesn't seem like it should be a Lude at all. I mean the 5th g looks like an updated 3g. I am not just saying that either. If you look at the body lines of the 5th gen, and the 3rd gen they are a lot squarer. I find myself asking myself where the 4 g came from. I mean don't get me wrong I love all the Ludes that have been made. But if you were just goin purly by looks, the 4g bears little to no resemblence of any other lude, inside or out. The 5th gen and 3rd gen have similar interior and exterior. Here are some gifs I threw together so your could see the similarities.
when i got my lude i had no idea what i had. but one year later i learn all about it and i am in love, i had no love 4 the 5th gen, but it has grown on me.. plus i get to say to all the lady, "you know u love my lude it got enough curves to make u hot " haha. now that i have my lude i want to keep it and never let go
only prob wif it is that it an auto, but i can't sell it to get a mt, or do a auto to mt swap.. cause it would change my frist car... must keep it. and yea my friend sit in my lude, and they are like i love the seat... droooll... i'm like fool get ur own.
4th gen 4ever

the fourth gen is still the #1 gen on my list! love the interior. all the new honda's except civic's make thir bodies similar to the 90's just like the accord and the prelude. and fifth gen's doesn't mean a newer car nor better in any way just shinier paint.
