Armrest options for '93 SI

Forgive me if I am beating a dead horse, but I am a newby to this site. I just bought a '93 SI, so you probably know what is coming. I am 48 years old, and this is the first car I have ever had that doesn't have an armrest. I mainly bought the car to drive to work, so it is more or less my daily driver. I have found several JDM armrests, but I can't see paying an arm and a leg for one. I know I could change out the console with a '94 and relocate the e-brake, but I was wondering if anyone has put just an armrest from a different model in a '93, and just bolted it to the center console. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of great information and helpful people on here. When I was reading your post, I came across this thread listed below in the similar threads list. 92-93 optional armrest

I don't know if the member still has it, or if it is out of your price range, but it seems fair to me without having to relocate your hand brake. Always keep your eyes peeled on the forum's classifieds section as well as craigslist and ebay and you can usually snag a pretty good deal on almost anything.

You can also private message a member on here by the name of redneck. He has parted out a few 4th gen Preludes and might have or know where to get an armrest for you.

And if you are new to using online forums, many members will tell you that the search button located right above the banner ads is an invaluable tool that will help you find threads related to the keywords that you type in there. Good luck with your search!

Thanks a lot SoCalBA8. It's not out of MY price range, nor are the ones I have seen on ebay. However, THE BOSS has different thoughts on the matter. She thought my ebay and craigslist searching was finally over when I found my Prelude on the latter. I have already bought a cupholder and a new power antenna mast, and now looking for an armrest. She just shakes her head and mutters what I am sure are words I can't repeat on this forum. I try to tell her that it's the way I shop. No sales tax and free shipping is the way to go as far as I am concerned. Especially with the price of gas constantly going up. Anyway, thanks and I will keep my eyes open.

I recently looked on ebay and saw 2 in great condition for around $150 and they are the ones you are looking for as 92, 93 and 94-96 all had different armrests. The 92 version connects with the rear seat and is very long and has a lock and key, the 93 though is short and just bolts on top of your existing center console.

Thanks minilogoguy18. I saw them too, and if it was up to me, I would gladly pay that for one. However, did you see the shipping? If it was the same two I saw, the shipping was $65 on one, and $75 on the other. Then again, the two I saw were in Japan. Still, I would get one of them in a heartbeat if I could get the ok from my loving wife(ain't gonna happen). I see several armrests on ebay from the '97 to '01 models. Can someone give me the dimensions of one of these? I was wondering if I could drill holes for the hinge and mount it between the e-brake and the ashtray, if it is close to the same width(around 5.5"). I won't do it if it is going to look tacky. Although the exterior of my Lude is nothing to look at(clear coat coming off and several dents), the interior is almost flawless, especially for a '93, and I will not do anything to screw that up. I bought it just to have something better on gas than my '90 Chevy K1500(16 mpg on a good day) to drive to work, but I do plan on eventually getting the exterior restored. Although my wife has a 2009 Accord, and my son has a 2007 Civic SI, this is my first Prelude, and I love it, except for the lack of armrest. I think my son likes driving it better than his Civic. Sorry for the long winded reply, but I like being able to talk to other Prelude fans. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you guys(and gals).

Found One!

Thanks for the help guys. Just bought an armrest for my '93 from member gotjnco. I guess that brings this thread to a close. Thanks once again.
