anyone using a 5th gen. aem cai on their 4th gen., 3inc compared to 2.75

wondering if anyone was using a 5th gen. aem cai on their 4th gen. and what fitment issues they had. seems it would fit in easily though the mounting location would probably be off.

just thinking this through since the itr's come with 3inch cai's like the 5th gen, but the 4th gen. only has a 2.75inch cai from what aem tells me.

also, is there as much cutting involved with the 4th gen. cai as there is with the 5th gen. the chassis i mean.

i believe i got a 5th gen aem cai on my 4th. I got it from my frined who bought it thinking that he was gonna get a 5th gen but ended up getting a itr. The mounting is different, i just have my cai connected to the throttle body and then it just goes down into the bumber part. There isnt' much cutting, what i did was cut a few slits and bent back the metal for the cai to go through.

I have one, I will be putting it today after I get my K&N 9 inch filter. The intake hits against the plug wires because of the way its bent and there is no way to secure it because the bracket on the intake is in the different location, so you might have to do some costume modifications to prevent the intake from moving. Hopefully it will be worth it.

I got the intake in. I also had to order the coupling which was 3.0 in. to 2 something in.. The filter was an extremely tight fit because it was so big. I bought a coupling from the hardware store to slip over the intake the part that goes inside the whole so it doesn't rub. Then I hade to reposition the intake slightly because it was really close to ABS system's lines, you have to take into considiration that the engine will me moving. I did have to cut the whole, but it was not a big deal.

I took the car for a drive. 1st gear VTEC engaged and tires broke loose. The car pulled very hard in every gear. It was so worth it.

I have a 5th gen CAI from AEM it fits perfectly, I just needed to make the whole bigger to let the intake to go down to the bumper

fellas, this is great to hear.

question though, did you guys all just leave the intake hanging. or did you cut and reweld the bracket to the proper mountin position for a 4th gen. lude.

k my question is what's the point really? The throttle is still the stock diameter...so do you think that extra .25" really makes a difference? I'm sure 2.75" in the 4th gen provides more air than the engine could possibly need. Is it worth the fitment issues if it makes no difference performance-wise? Just curious...

I did not use the bracket. Since I bought mine used I did not get any bolts with bushings, so I can't just secure it directly because this would not allow the intake to move when the engine is moving.

I do not know if the extra .25" makes a difference but I do know that from mid range and up it pulles very hard. I feel like I don't have to use VTEC anymore. Let's just say when I put the intake on it was like I supercharged my car. It is very quiet, even at wot I can't hear the intake but when the VTEC kicks in it screams.
