What would happen if you put a little block of dry ice down where the filter takes the air in? With the filter still on, of course.. Would it make any difference? As it would be sucking up some c02, right?

Yes, that would make a difference. It'll keep the hot air from the engine bay out. SCC mag did a before and after test on i believe a Celica GTS, with a homemade heat sheild thing like that and there was a significant difference in intake temps which ultimately helps make more HP.
I personally would most definitely like one of those because i have my short ram on with an old intake tube getting air in from the outside to right under my filter. Blocking off the top part where most of the hot air is getting sucked in would be perfect and maybe yeild me another HP or 2. You can check out what i did on the FAQ Short Ram torque with CAI like cool air....
and yes, i did notice difference after i did this.
