Not looking to donate any at the moment . I'm just asking out of my own personal curiosity, since I've wondered for a while if it would be something I'd want to get for my own 4th gen

for looks or for actual stopping power?

i ask because we all know bbk really don't help our cars stop faster, just have less fade over a period of hard braking.

Mainly interested in stopping power and increased brake torque. With the larger rotor it will increase brake torque and should help the brakes feel and act more confident. The Prelude brakes just don't feel nearly as good or responsive as a lot of cars. My wife's E46 BMW 325iT feels much better and that's not fair

^well then if i were you, i would read this first.

brake article

and if track preludes are running stock calipers with good pads, i doubt we need "more" stopping power. have you tried aggressive pads? i remember either billy/todd saying "if you can lock your brakes, get better tires" on my 4th gen w/axxis ultimates (i got from you) or my hawk hp+'s, i can lock my brakes with ease (i don't have abs, stupid 4th gen).

i was toying with the idea of a big brake kit and from what i found, its for

1. looks
2. weight redux
3. better rotor interchangablity
4. less fade

and another thing is it seems like you either go big or not mod at all. if i were you mike, i would look into the fastbrakes kit. i think its really reasonable for an actual kit. correct me if i'm wrong, but the Powerslot bbk is just merely a bigger rotor utilizing the stock caliper?

Yeah, I mean, I'm aware of all that stuff in the article and would be first to say the same stuff to other people. I agree with all that. Mainly, I'm just unimpressed with the "Feel" of the prelude brakes. They stop okay when pushed to the limit and I don't experience fade when using good pads, but they just dont have good initial grab and stopping power like a BMW does or many other cars. Right now I'm running EBC Redstuff pads, which I got for free from the owner of EBC to test out. They have poor cold bite in my opinion. But even back with stock pads, the braking "feel" isn't as good as a lot of other cars I've driven.

hmmm i c

well you might want to look into getting a bigger BMC (although i think there is no such direct fit)

that is the biggest thing holding you back if you want great initial bite. i remember asking you if the h23 vs h22 BMC was different, they are not.

you can also adjust your brake pedal, be forewarned that some ppl that have done this have stated it changes the pedal to basically "off/on"

so the brake travel is much shorter. you could try that but any sudden / hard braking will engage quicker and you might lose control

Have you ever thought of running stainless steel brake lines? I've never ran them, but I think their purpose is to increase the feel of the brakes (the lines don't expand like the rubber ones).

Also, how many miles are on your car? Have you ever replaced the brake booster or master cylinder? I would imagine having a newer one would help. My car has 203k on it and my brakes bite hard, but feels a bit mushy when compared to my cousin's 4g which has only ~65k on it.

I'd recommend SS lines and a more aggressive pad. Once I did SS lines, ATE Super Blue Fluid and a Cobalt's Spec-VR pads on my 5th Gen, the brake pedal had excellent feel. They inspired good confidence and I never had fade issues at the track again.
