Anyone else not feel satisfied with their H23?

Just what it says..............I just opened her up all the way today and I didn't feel anything. I felt as if I was driving a really loud golf cart or something (not really but you know what I mean). I love my Lude but it just feels like something is missing (VTEC?).

BTW....only engine mods I've got are I/H/E and definitely feels alot stronger than stock. The only VTEC car I've ever driven is a bubble with a B18C swap......which was pretty d*mn fast. Any other H23 pplz feel the same? H22'z feel free to join in as well.

I think my H23 is pretty damn slow, but I still dont care that much about for now as long as its faster than civics and accords. I still would love a Vtec by next summer though. and I love the way it handles.

h23

yeah i quess that is why there is such a debate as to have a h22a or h23
the h22a claims 195-200 hp but if you have ever seen a dyno sheet (w h/i/e) it puts out 156 whp which is kinda crapy for a car that claims 195 to 200 but if you dyno a h23a with h/i/e it puts down 136 whp but if you give the h23a a 50 shot of nos it will put down 178+ whp so it kinda is a hard decision in what to do?

does the w in whp mean anything to you^^? and as for feeling slow, thats because the car basically is. the feeling of being so slow comes from the lack of torque (or so to speak) from the 4 cyl. ford has an old saying, people buy horsepower but they feel torque

h23

yeah well i have seen dyno sheets and runs for a lot of preludes and ask anyone that auto xs or what not they will tell you that whp is the only thing that matters --
i have owned z28s and an exlipse turbo i can tell you that there is no replacment (vtec) for displacement or boost -- i think that we and i drive my prelude more for the looks and love of it not because it can or ever will be the fastest car out there...

i have to say, i love the h23. the dyno numbers i see on the h22 with the ihe mods are really not all that. I got ihe and pulleys timing and ignition ( which really doesnt to much as far as power ), and i m right at 145. i m installin a safc this weekend, we ll see if i can get to the 150s with some tuning the car is runnin pretty rich, i can smell it, but i doubt i d get that far, we ll see. besides, yea vtec is fun and all, but ur not always in vtec, and plus with gas being $2.15 in orlando FL right now, i wouldnt want to be in vtec all the time lol.

do you have this dyno sheet for this H22 that is only putting 156 to the wheels? cause i'd like to see it. most H22's i know of are putting down at least 170 stock. i've ridden in a H22 lude that was putting down like 184 whp, and he said that stock my H22 feels like its putting down around that or more.

please show proof of this or just stop talking.

Just go look in the NA forum - there are several running in the high 150's to high 160's. Then again, several are making 170's like you said - that's why I've always been confused with the H22.

Anyway, I like my H23, nice around town torque and decent pickup. Would I want more power, of course. If you're really that disappointed with it though I'd get a new car because even the mighty H22 is still a 4 banger, and only really great when you hit vtec. Deal

re: speed tv

man a dude on speed channells sports car revolution show was all excited about his 5th gen going to gyno it with his aem intake dc sports header custom exhaust and he was talking shi@$ about he was going to put down 170 or 180 to the wheels and dyno-ed the car and it made like 158 -- the h22a stock is great motor i am not putting it down it is faster than stock na h23s however if you lose that much hp between the crank and wheels then that sucks ....it could have been a sport tronic shifter or the obd1 stuff i have not seen any dynos for the jdm h22a it would be higher i am sure....
