Anyone else get rid of the spare tire? Trunk floor sagging :(

I removed it because a) I always have to remove it for a track day anyway and b) I got sick of the jack rattling around; so I just bought a can of tire filler gunk and removed the piece of crap.

The downside? The floor panel of the trunk rests on the spare so when it's removed it just sags and falls into where the tire used to be.

Anyone come up with something to combat this?

^^Whoa! That's HOT! Anybody want to buy my spare tire sub enclosure? It fits 2 10's? I gotta find somebody w/a digi cam, b/c I don't have one...but it's fiberglassed into the spare well, and is carpeted...professionally done when I was still in Colorado. I have no use for it, and it cost me $500 to have done (I know, too much, but this was back in the day). I'd let it go for much less than that, so make me an offer.

No monies for da sub But that would be the coolest option.

the plywood option might work. I'm a little concerned with it bumping around a lot though.

1/4" plywood is _definately_ the option. I had the same problem, so i put a piece of plywood in there, it also works good for securing you're equipment down too.

*sigh* i wish i still had my stereo :P

I had also made a plywood floor. Much stronger than the stock floor. But I replaced it with fiber board. It's stronger than stock, lighter than plywood, but not stronger than plywood. I have it cut to dimension and carpeted too. That's why I needed a your car to be a reference before. I have an extra fiber board from extra material if your interested.

or you could just take a basketball or something and put it where the tire would be, that should keep the center of the board from sagging

I don't think a basketball would be a good thing to have in the trunk for track day...

Just take everything out, even the board.

Grocries fit in the well where the tire was and dont slide around.

Ya I'm thinking about taking it all out but it does look a little ghetto and would be awkward with large luggage.

Jake - Looks like a nice solution. Let me think about it some more and I'll get back to you! Thanks.

i don't see how a basketball is going to move around much with that cover on on top of it. Otherwise, he could just remove it and the cover on track day anyway.
