I have one too and that is exactly what you have to do, you have to cut the old one off of there!

Hey Matt, what exactly is involved with changing the eBrake handle? I know you have to remove the old rubber, but then what?

I'm thinking of buying a MOMO handle to match my shift knob because I have a gift cert. to spend at Modacar.

Well Mark, this is how I did it:

I took off the center console and then removed the entire E-brake assembly. take a razor blade and cut off the bottom portion of the ebrake rubber boot. Then take a skinny but long(probably 6 inches) flat bladed screwdriver and from the bottom of the ebrake, shove it under the upper part of the boot to release the glue that holds it onto the ebrake. Work it around the E-brake until all of the glue has been broken. The ebrake should slide off now. If it doesn't, then you should just cut it off with the razor blade. Now just install the bare ebrake into the car and put the center console back on. Finally, put on your aftermarket ebrake cover and replace the stock leather boot and you are finished! Have fun with it!

Yeah I did exactly that except I did not need to remove the center console or the e-brake assembly.

Took me 10 minutes

Well the reason why I removed all of that stuff is because I didn't feel like doing it in the car, so I brought it into the garage and did all the work on my bench.

One more question

How does the new handle attatch? Does it have to be glued on like the stock or is there some other method?

I don't want this thing to be jiggling around.

Ahhhhh.........I didn't even think of allen screws. So it attatches using the same method as the shift knobs.

Thanks again.

The button at the end of the ebrake is threaded. Its screws in and out. To put the new one in, I wrapped a rag around the button and then used pliers to screw it in.

mine didn't fit that great either, the slot on the bottom of the handle was too tight when it almost got on. I ended up just filing away the inside corner towards the end until it slid on enough to tighten down.

Real carbon fiber and real Aluminum. Momo is one of the few companies that make good looking handbrakes.

www.lbtmotorsport.com sells them pretty cheap if you consider 90 bucks cheap.
