Anybody with a 92 done OEM fogs ? (long center console)

I got my fogs n brackets and all my shiz complete exempt switch and relay ...

I'm going to try and use an aftermarket relay and just use the wiring from under the dash ... cut n splice.. ghetto but who cares.. however

I don't have any info in my helms on where the plugin is for the relay harness .. .

Also, if I wanted it to go w/ accessory rather than headlights, what wire should I splice / replace ?? colors and/or diagrams are much appreciated!

Here's the link to installing oem fogs on a 94. here The switch is in a different location than on the 92-93, but the relay should be in the same spot. And you want to wire them to you accessory?! Why would you want the fogs on all the time?

yohan, if you have a 92-93, then the switch goes in the tweeter cover.. not the long center console. You CAN put it there, but then you have to extend the harness from behind the tweeter to the center console.

I think he's saying he doesn't have the switch....

....which means he simply has to place a pin between two wires on the green harness behind the tweeter cover.

I'll check later, but the way I used to have it was to simply take a paper clip and insert it into two of the pins in the green tweeter cover. One of the wires goes to the relay, and then the 2nd pin can be either one that turns on with headlights or one that turns on with corner lights. I forget which it is.... I'll check the diagram or my car later.

EDIT: Look here for a nice array of diagrams; on the very, very bottom, last entry--"Wiring Diagrams." Click there and let the PDF document load, then go to "Figure 13." There's the diagram of the green connector. The relay diagram is somewhere on there, too.

ahh ok, so if its a green plug in the driver side tweeter location that makes sense .. I'm definately gonna extend the wires to the switch I have now (for aftermarket fogs that are junk) between the seats where my seat heaters are.

You say its a "Green" plug ?? Is it just right there, or do I have to pull it up from under the dash or ... ?

As well, the harness under the dash for the relay to go into .. is it just a plug sitting there that I can see really easily ?

yes its a green plug on the dash wiring harness, you might have to dig a bit, but its there. it has 6 wires going into it. the under dash harness is a brown connector, and its taped under the dash with blue tape, you will see it. it has 4 prongs in it, just so you know

well, you know the main chunk of harness that goes into your dash?.. the connector is taped to the harness with blue tape, about a foot down from what you can see looking into the tweeter hole.

Edit: he beat me to it.. oh well.

Meh

I had aftermarket fogs installed in my car before, and since I had done a proper job of running the wires the first time ( Grommet, Wire cover, zipties ) I decided to use that systems wire/switch.

As for the power source the fuse box under your drivers side dash has two un-used male spades right under the large fuses/relays. One spade is a constant 12v the other turns on when the ignition is turned on. I just used a female connector, some 8g wire and an inline fuse. Worked great

Machine, thats the plan man! .. I'm just gonna ghetto the wiring and splice wires most likely because I have a relay and a switch, its just aftermarket ... so no plug n play.

Right now my main problem is I have the fogs, with one broken bracket (and a brand new replacement) but the broken one I can't unscrew the fog from the bracket.. even after dousing and dousing w/ WD-40 .. I tried to unscrew and actually snapped my screwdriver bit ... Also, the screws for the fog covers are rusted into place securely as well and I cnt get them out eitehr as the ends will strip, but if i use vice grips im going to bend the bracket ... oiy .... caution to everybody when buying used fogs ..

Anybody have advice on this ??

forget the WD-40 get some PB penatrater that stuff works great keep spraying the rusted screws and after each spray insert a screwdriver into the head and tap it a few times.

the tapping allows the juice to really get in the crevices, do this 2 or 3 times a day for a few days and sucker will spin off without a problem. you just gotta be pateint. let this stuff do all the work for you
