antanna woes...

ok well this is the only thing I hate about my lude. I cant stand to see this beautiful, sleek, low, perfect prelude with that 3 ft high antanna sticking up, for the radio. How do I fix this, is there a shorter one to get and still have good reception?

if you still hear the motor running, you need just the mast, if not, you'll need the whole unit or just buy a non rolling one

aftermarket cd players do use the antenna, i know this cause i went thru 2 different aftermarket cd players. You just gotta wire it right.
My antenna was broken when my dad drove it thru the car wash without turning off the car(what an idiot) so i jammed it down and now it just looke like it's not popped up. To tell you the truth, it looks a lot better with it down especially if you have a spoiler

my antennae goes up with my sony headunit whether i'm listening to cds or the radio... i plan on wiring in my own switch to control it myself. i rarely listen to the radio anyways, and if i do i might not even need the antennae up for the local stations i listen to.

junkytri: Why wouldn't you wire it so the antenna raises only when you're listening to the radio? I know aftermarket radios can use the antenna for radio use...that's why I said DON'T use the radio.

if you want it to stay down just disconnect the power antenna wire on your deck. should be blue. make sure the antenna is in the down position, once you disconnect it the power antenna won't go anywhere when you change to radio. reception may not be as good tho, but your antenna will stay down.

Argh I hate my antenna, it clicks like crazy when it has reached either full up or down positions

what i did is unplug the antenna motor and jam the antenna to make it so it's sticking up about a foot...it still gets perfect reception, just the up and down motion is disabled...i think it looks better then any other option you can do!

you can buy a foot long one at a parts store for $8-15 or so. I had one on my accord.
