Another Suspension Question...

Hey everyone. I know that this has probably been beaten to death, but my question is a bit different. I have a stock 93 VTEC with 81k and it's time to replace my shocks. My options are a set of Tein Basics, a set of KYB AGX's, or a set of Tokico Illuminas. The reason my question is different is that I really DONT'T want to lower my car if possible because I am in NYC and the roads here are poopoo. So I am trying to get something that will be good at highway speeds but not firm enough to bounce my spleen out. I've thought about replacing them with OE Honda shocks, but they are expensive and why go OE for that price when I can get better for less!! I've heard the Teins are VERY firm, but never sat in a car that had a set installed. Thanks in advance for everyone who gives input.

Well Riceboy... how much are you willing to spend. If your under budget get the KYB's for there adjustibility. Its a pretty good bang for your buck and you will find that they are pretty popular on this forum. Tein's are really nice though if u have the dough!
If I were you try searching you will find more than ample info on this subject!

I figured out some approximate prices. AGXs run on ebay for around $320/shipped for the set. Then add on around another $100 for installation. But i'm worried that without lowering the car, that the AGXs will turn my Lude into a 4X4. My friend's shop is authorized Tein dealer. So I got a price of $750/installed for the Basics. I am leaning more towards the Teins, but I'm just concerned that they will be too stiff. I'm not as young as I used to be... haha Anybody has the Tein basics and think they are too stiff??

I think AGX's would be fine for you. Why don't you just install them yourself and then you are set for 350.

So you think the AGXs alone won't raise up my car any? And..umm..i am not "mechanically inclined" so I don't wanna try something and make it worse, then i'm SOL. I'd rather leave it to the pros...think it's safer that way.
