Another problem with the rotors.. UGH!

Ok, so i drilled out the screws that hold the rotors on... all is good there. But i cant seem to get the rotor OFF!

There's not much leverage anywhere to "pry" it off.. i tried grabbing it with both hands.. tried tapping a hammer around the rotor to "break it lose"... tried WD-40... nothing seems to work. Is there a trick that i'm missing? Please help i wanna get these things changed, its driving me nuts!!

Well one great technique is to find a bolt with the same specs as those rotor hat screws. Then you screw them into the other two holes on the rotor that hit flush with the hub and that will usually pop them off. The problem is that I forget what the thread specs are, sorry.

If you're not going to reuse it... bang at it with a small sledge hammer. If you do plan on reusing it, put a piece of wood over where you will hit it then bang it with a sledgehammer

It also helps to hit it towards the car on the very edge of the rotor to loosen it some. Hell, just bang the crap out of it. Its fun.

I've gotten a few rotors off with this method.

ya i got it off... i cant say that the passenger side is going the same way though... Not as easy as that video at least. Called it a night, hopefully it'll come off tomorrow, i'm letting some WD-40 set into it over night.

Glad you got some kicks out of the video though hah.

More Problems...

I am going to light my prelude on fire.

So i'm putting the drivers side backtogether, and one of the bolts for the caliper is going in... i cant find the hole with my finger. So i get under there with a flash light, and about shot myself..

Apparently i snapped the FREAKING bolt off when taking everything apart when using the breaker bar and didnt realize it

On top of all that, i've taken some of your's advice and decided to not replace the phillips head screws... but now i cant seem to get my rotor to not be "offset" when tightening down everything. And even if i bought new screws, i think i stripped the CRAP out of the threads anyway....

Please tell me what i need to do to silve these problems before i light my garage on fire and conveniently leave my prelude in it. Thanks guys, ans sorry for the huge pics.

Oh **** man... I actually have spare parts from my old calipers. I think those slider things are interchangeable between all Prelude calipers. PM me with what you need

just replace the little thingy and you'll be fine.

as far as the little screws - they are there for a reason, but it does seem logical that it would be fine without them

Well his parts all look pretty corroded, I'm guessing the road salt used during snowy days is reponsible for that mess

I just watched the video lol. That was a small hammer. I didn't think it was gonna come off with the little taps you hit it with. I have a good sized rubber mallet that I use for things like that and I ussually give em a good wack.
