Amber turn signals

I got my tails cleared out and now whenever I turn on my signals the rear lights light up real bright white. Now I would like to just keep it like but I don't think big brother (COPS) would like it. Anyways I went to a couple of part stores and nobody seems to carry amber bulbs, they just have the clear ones. So if anyone knows where I can either get a pair or have any suggestions on what to dew dew let me know.

Use existing clear bulbs and paint them orange using Krylon's Stained Glass Paint. If you don't want to see the orange bulb under the clear lens, put on 2 very light coats of high temp silver.

some LED's are bright, it all depends on which ones you get. Also, if you plan to use them in the rear signals you really don't need bright bulbs there. I had a deep red LED's there and they were fine, now I got some bright amber LED's that look almost stock when lit but nice and clear when not in use. problem w/LED's is the lower current draw which would cause your signals to hyper blink, but u can fix that too. =)

I got mine amber bulbs from pep boys. They were not in the ricer section, they with all the other replacement bulbs.

I would stay away from led bulbs for replacements. They do not draw enough power and cause your blinkers to go faster like when you have a bulb out.

Do you know the bulb # for the ambers? I think the rear turn signals are like 3947 or something but those were the clear ones, do I need another bulb # for the ambers?

yeah dude, don't paint your bulbs, they make amber bulbs, it's no myth. Silvania make a set which I think falls under their silverstar line. The bulbs look almost silver or reflective, but they light up amber, they're meant for corner lamps, but the bulb is probably the same/or the make one for tail lamps, nevertheless, amber bulbs are available.

the silver painted bulbs aren't a bad option.. i've seen polarg make them but they cost about $15 for a pair. The silver star isn't a bad option. What's the point of clearing your tail lights and putting in amber bulbs when it still makes it look stock? u see the amber in there if these are the typical amber 1156's.. i personally went w/LED's because they keep the tail light clear as intended, and legal when they light up.. not bad i say. also LED's are suppose to out last typical filament bulbs so there is the long term value there. the bone head LED fix kit works perfectly fine so they signal like a regular bulb. if you wanna save $, then just rig up another socket and hide a bulb somewhere to draw the juice so it doesn't hyper blink.

you actually can't see them. It's not clear as in Altezza-see-through clear, where you can see the housing and the shape of the plastic on the inside. If he's got the cleared-out mod tail lights, then an amber bulb won't be really visible, if at all, except when it lights up, of course. Take a look at some pics, and neokai's thread with a bunch of pics of his tail lights, I can't see any amber at all, but I'm sure he's got a bulb in there.
