alternator issues....

Hey I have a 96 si and almost every morning I have to jump it b/c it doesnt hold the charge overnight. This is a bad alternator right? if so what do I need when replacing the alternator as I will be doing it myself.
Thanks for any help. Ryan

Check the voltage output of the alternator when the engine is running.

I had a problem with leaking charge, but it wasn't the alternator or the battery. It was a short between the amp fuse and the chassis (short ram rubbed through a power wire and shorted it to the body).

I would check your battery first, dude. It's cheaper and quicker than the alternator... and it's usually the problem.
