almost got the h23a1 out...

so, I spent 2 hours working on it tonight and I have the following left to do/remove:

driver side axle/ball joint
passenger side axle
exhaust
motor mounts
engine harness
other various small things

another hour or 2 and this baby should be out...I'll save that for another night

so far it's not bad except for the fact that the car is old and some bolts have never been removed. I also discovered that in addition to a broken t-belt, this car has a blown headgasket, so it looks like the h22 will be going in there....

Don't worry... someday the H23 bearing fairy will give you that opportunity.

Then I think your Prelude is trying to tell you it wants a H22 already.

if I take the head off the h23a1 and it still looks good, the h23a1 is going back in there....

I probably missed the post but why are you pulling your motor?I originally thought it was to do a swap.

well, if I pull the motor and take the head off and everything looks okay, im putting it back together and running with the h23. chances are with a blown headgasket and broken tbelt (no telling how long it was run with a blown gasket), something else is screwed up.

the h22 will probably go in - but I have to get parts for it to do a tune up before it goes in.

do i need to replace the head gasket on the jdm h22 before i install it? easier now than later....i know - the list it quickly growing

manual tensioner
dist cap/rotor
plugs/wires
header
tbelt
bal belt
fuel filter
fuel pump
clutch, p plate, flywheel

also in the mix: 5 lug swap. 5th gen roof swap, championship white (NH-0) respray, jdm black 1 piece with tsx projectors....it will be sweet when done

my goal is to have the car running in under 2 weeks. The main limiting factor on this is how long it will take me to get the replacement parts.
