if you purchase a new auto-tensioner, it will come with the "special tool" needed to keep the tensioner in place while installing.
one other thing you may consider getting is a valve cover gasket. it can be reused but i put a new one in at that time, as well as new ps pump/alt belts.

Actually you can put the tensioner from the h23 on it, its more better, lots of people do the conversion. You dont need to change the water pump, and if your going to change the water pump you mise well change the seals. Crank seal, cam seals, balancer shaft seal, and look to make sure you have the reatainer for the balancer shaft seal. Thats what I would do anyway.
ok well im just trying to do what I need to keep the car running and in good shape, I know I need: Timing belt
Balancer belt
Valve cover gasket
Water pump
thats for sure , and what about the belt tensioner, I need it right? Thats all I need to do for the maintance right? I dont need to replace those seals, Its not that hard to replace the water pump right?
replaceing the water pump is fairly easy. When you have it all apart doing the timing belt. You will leak lots of coolant. As far as the tensioner goes you need to replace it wither with a manual tensioner or a auto tensioner. The auto is nice but has been known to fail in a few cases. And since you are doing it yourself it isn't covered. If you want a manual tensioner let me know I have a few. Be sure to use the Maitnance hole on the back side of the block, it will make life easy.
maitnace hole, whats that, and also whats the difference between the auto and the manual tensioner. Do you have an manual, and why would the auto fail if its on the car from the factory?
You dont need to replace your water pump. Unless you want to. I have gone over 300,000 miles on a stock water pump, just replacing the timing belt a few times. Also I dont know about the auto tensioner, but i know lots of people change the auto tensioner to a manual one just for reasurance so their is no way it will fail. A dfinate i would do thogh is make sure you have the retainer over the balancer shaft seal. If you dont everything you are doing is wasted cuz if that seal pops out then your screwed. It happend to me. Pissed me off. LOL. Let me know if you need more help.
Look you do need to replace your water pump. Are you crazy? I have seen a quite a few fail. When it does it is a pain to replace. So much easier to replace it when you do the timing belt. I done this a hundred times. Just replace it and don't take chances.
Here is the things I am buying, timing belt, balancer belt, tensioner, cam gears, and since Im doing the gears, do I need to replace the cam seals????? And also is there any other gaskets or seals I need to replace around these areas?
