Aftermarket Header for h23a1

Just wondering what brand of header people have tried and which they feel is the best for the h23a1? Please reply to this, list the brand/model header you have, and your likes/dislikes, please post dyno charts of actual hp/torque gains if you have them. Thank you.

-Mike

DC CC. Quality is OK. Braket that connects the b pipe to the block doesn't fit, many break. Fairly good power gains.

We don't have much choice when it comes to headers. A while back when I was about to buy mine, Dr James replied, saying that pretty much all of the headers for the h23 gave about the same gains.

Other than cost, is there a difference in hp/torque between a cc header vs. a ss header? Also, anyone have the Neuspeed header? And good/bad things about it? Please let me know. Thanks.

There shouldn't be. The only difference between the 2 would be the material that the header is made out of. The dimensions of everything should be the same. Both CC and SS will discolor. The CC will turn a yellowish, brownish, gray. The SS will turn a blueish, goldish, silver.

I honestly have to say that the headers do have a slight increase in performance, but not as much as many may think. I've had mine on for close to a year. When I first got the headers, I was , but I realized the car was pretty much the same just better flowing. I have the DC Sports CC ones by the way. How I describe it....it's like when you're almost out of gas and your mind tells you your car is weak..when you pump it full tank at the station and drive off...you start revving and it feels like it has rejuvenated. WRONG. haha..same thing..It's all on your head. If you feel it's WOW..then it's WOW..but if you dyno your car or whatevers...slight increase..minute.

The whole point of the ceramic header is to disipate heat faster so my guess would be that there is a very small difference between the two but only after your have driven your car for an extended amount of time.

Peace

I remember in Sport Compact Car, they had the Project Prelude Si, built by King Motorsports. King was saying it was very hard to get power from the H23 because the stock header was very efficient.

I've seen the H23A manifold and it is far from efficient! VTEC.net if I remember correctly did a dyno test on the Prelude SI with the DC Ceramic header. It gained 5-6 whp I believe.

I've heard both. Stock isn't bad and aftermarker is better, but think of costs as well. You wanna save $200 and modify other parts or are you willing to drop $200 to get 5-6 hp. The choice is yours.

With that small gain also comes better looks under the hood for those looking to dress up their engine.

Not to mention, well I've heard that you get a slightly better/louder sound from the engine and a small gain in torque as well.

I love my DC CC's... Just adding my 2 cents into this thread. Dont forget there is also a slight weight saving by switching to an aftermarket header. I held my stock manifold and my DC's and the DC's seemed to be lighter than that huge chunk of iron that they call an exhaust manifold...
