AEM Short Ram Intake - Worried?

I just installed my AEM Short Ram Intake yesterday and the RPM's are going crazy! I re-set the battery and all that so I'm guessing the ECU just has to get used to it?

Keep in mind I have an Automatic. I plugged the vacuum thing and I connected the other hose to the one outlet like the instructions stated. I also had 3 mechanically inclined guys hovering over me as I installed this so I didn't mess anything up.

Yesterday I drove it around for about 2 hours and I noticed the improvement in performance but when I brake, sometimes it stays in 2nd gear and revs around 2000RPM's fully stopped. I can hear the intake sucking in the air and the exhaust pushing the air out while in gear, stopped at a light. It drops down if I put it in neutral.

Then there are times where I'll be slowing down and it will drop into 1st gear and not idle high at all. I'm confused, hoping this is normal... any thoughts?

i have your answer, because I've had the same problem. dont plug the vaccum tube. thats whats messing with your idle.

ok do you see what I did there? i inserted the vaccuum tube into the same rubber piece the intake manifold plug connects to. once i did this it went away.

i hope this helps you out man.

What if you just leave that vaccuum line unplugged and open in the engine bay VS. plugging it into an intake hole? Does it matter where it receives its air from is basically what I'm asking?

That's how I did it for 8 months and never had any problems.

I had a dodgy idle on mine, I thought it was the ecu too, turned out that the throttle body needed a clean, so something else maybe to think about.

You should actually feel more torque and power if you keep the line unplugged. Check out 92lude.com and you will see more info on that.
